Plain-English summary

Brown Shoe Co. and Pagoda International Footwear Ltd. are recalling approximately 1.4 million Buster Brown & Co. clog children's shoes. The recall was initiated because the shoes feature decorative wheels that can detach, creating a choking hazard for young children. The companies have received two reports of a decorative wheel detaching from the shoe, but no injuries have been reported.

The recalled shoes are plastic molded EVA "water" clogs designed to resemble cars. They are available in red, brown, blue, yellow, and pink, and most feature "CARS," "Transformers Animated," or "Barbie" branding. The "Buster Brown & Co.™" logo is printed on a sewn-in tag inside the fleece-lined shoe and on the original hang tag. The shoes were sold in children's sizes 5 to 13 and youth sizes 1-3.

These shoes were sold at major retailers nationwide, including Beall's, Famous Footwear, J.C. Penney, Meijer, Rack Room, Sears, Shoe Show, Target, and Wal-Mart, from August 2007 through June 2009 for $10 to $25. Consumers should immediately take the product away from children and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
