Plain-English summary
Nike USA, Inc. is recalling approximately 9,000 pairs of Nike Get-Go and Little Get-Go children's athletic shoes. The recall involves toddler and pre-school sizes 2C through 3Y, which were sold in various color combinations. The shoes feature a Nike Swoosh symbol on the outside and sole, close with a strap, and have the style name written on the box. Specific six-digit style numbers 308638, 308639, 308642, and 308647 are located on a label inside the shoe just above the UPC code.
The recall was initiated because the 1.5-inch to 1.75-inch rubber tab at the top of the heel can detach from the shoe. This poses a choking hazard to young children. Nike has received three reports of heel tabs separating from shoes, but no injuries have been reported.
The shoes were sold in Nike stores, major athletic shoe stores, independent shoe stores, and children's stores nationwide from June 2004 through August 2004 for between $35 and $45. Consumers should immediately take the recalled shoes away from young children and contact Nike to receive a refund voucher. For more information, call Nike at (800) 344-6453 or visit www.nikebiz.com.
