These dampers were installed with various atmospheric gas boiler systems from manufacturers including Allied Engineering, Burnham, Crown, and others. The recall covers units sold through plumbing and heating wholesale distributors and large home improvement stores between August 2007 and January 2009.

The hazard exists because the automatic gas vent damper could fail. If the blocked vent switch does not activate, the vent could leak carbon monoxide (CO), posing a risk of CO poisoning to consumers. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the boilers, weather permitting, and contact their installer to confirm they have a recalled vent damper.
