The recall was initiated because the stability of these stands does not meet industry standards to prevent television tip-over, which poses a risk of injury or death to consumers.
The affected units were sold nationwide from May 2004 through August 2008 for between $220 and $260. The "Fierro" model was sold exclusively by Best Buy, while the other models were available at other retailers. The stands were manufactured by King Pao Enterprise Co. Ltd. and Studio Link Corp. Ltd. in China and distributed by Studio RTA of Pico Rivera, California.
No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should immediately remove the television from the stand and contact Studio RTA to receive a free repair kit.
