The recall was first announced in February 2007 but was re-announced in May 2008 after the company received additional reports of incidents. The affected products include various models of Everlasting Jelly candles, such as the Champagne Glass with Heart (#502) and Large Oval Bowl with Sand & Shells (#109-XL), which were sold in clear glass containers with a smaller glass of gel in the center.

The candles pose a fire and burn hazard because they can produce excessive flame height. M & A Global Technologies reported four additional instances of higher-than-normal flames coming into contact with nearby combustibles, resulting in minor fires, smoke, and soot damage. Additionally, the company received one report of a consumer sustaining burn injuries to their hand. The products were sold at Spa at Home stores and Spaathome.com nationwide between October and December 2003, and again between October and December 2005, for prices ranging from $9 to $50.
