Small World Toys is recalling approximately 8,800 IQ Preschool™ Take-Apart Townhouse toys. These wooden toys, intended for children ages 18 months and older, are shaped like houses and feature nine disassemblable pieces. The recall is due to small magnets used to connect the wooden pieces to the sides of the townhouse, which can fall out.
The detached magnets pose a risk of being swallowed or aspirated by young children. If more than one magnet is swallowed, they can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal. CPSC and Small World Toys have received two reports of magnets coming off the townhouse pieces, but no injuries have been reported.
The toys were sold at toy stores, various other retailers nationwide, and through catalogs from December 2004 through February 2007 for about $21. Consumers should take these toys away from children immediately and contact Small World Toys to obtain a free replacement product.
