Plain-English summary
Tap Machine Inc. is recalling about 2,000 sake warmers due to a burn hazard. The recalled units are counter-sized devices used to warm sake for restaurants, bars, or home use. The product is approximately 11 inches wide by 11 inches deep by 19 inches high and warms sake to temperatures between 115 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit. The recalled units have model number SM05 followed by serial numbers 1001 through 3074, which are written on the left side of the units.
The hazard exists because the sake warmers can unexpectedly spray hot sake on consumers during use, posing a risk of serious burns. Tap Machine has received one report of a consumer sustaining first and second-degree burns when using the sake warmer.
The sake warmers were sold from November 2005 through January 2007 for about $150. They were distributed via Tap Machine's website, by telephone order, and at various wine and spirit distributors. Consumers should immediately stop using these sake warmers and return them to Tap Machine for a full refund. Consumers can contact Tap Machine Inc. at (888) 556-0703 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the company's website at www.sakewarmer.com.
