Plain-English summary
Valsi Corporation is recalling approximately 900 single-phase portable generators manufactured in Mexico. The affected models are the G38MG0750RV, G42MG0750RV, G55MG0900RV, and G65MG1100RV. These generators feature black plastic fuel tanks, a full lifting frame, and a side control panel, and are identified by a blue label with "Valsi Generator" printed on it.
The recall was issued because the plastic fuel tanks can crack and leak fuel, which creates a risk of fires and burn injuries. There have been 67 reports of fuel tank leaks, but no reported injuries. The generators were sold between September 2004 and August 2005 for between $400 and $900 at Wal-Mart stores in the Florida Gulf coast region, Highway Equipment and Supply in Orlando, FL, and the Florida Department of Transportation in Orlando, FL.
Consumers should stop using the affected generators immediately. Valsi is directly notifying consumers who purchased these units. Affected consumers should contact a Valsi dealer or Valsi customer service to arrange for a replacement gas tank to be installed at no cost. For more information, call (866) 260-4843 between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or email [email protected].
