The recall is being issued because capacitors located inside the left and right sides of the back cabinets of these televisions can arc, posing a safety risk. Philips has received nine reports of this arcing. The company states that the use of flame retardant materials contained the results of these incidents within the televisions, resulting only in damage to the units. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately turn off the Ambilight feature on their televisions. They should then contact Philips at (888) 744-5477 to arrange for free in-home service to have the television repaired.
