The recalled units were sold nationwide at sporting goods stores from July 2005 through May 2006 for between $200 and $250. The ESQ30B model features a black powder-coated outer shell, while the ESQ30S model has a stainless steel outer shell; both display the Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse logo on the front door. The model number is located on a metal plate on the back of the unit.
Masterbuilt has received two reports of units damaged by wood chip flare-ups, but no injuries or property damage have been reported. Consumers should stop using these smokers immediately and contact Masterbuilt at (800) 489-1581 or visit www.masterbuilt.com to receive a free repair kit.
