Makita is recalling about 3,400 DCS6401 and DCS7901 chain saws because the flywheels can come apart during use, posing a serious injury risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The source states the defect could cause serious personal injury and notes three reports of the flywheel coming apart, but explicitly states there have been no reports of injury. This aligns with the rubric for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
