Plain-English summary

Dynamic Cooking Systems Inc. is recalling approximately 1,400 DCS Wall Ovens, including single and double oven models in stainless steel, black, or white. The recall affects Wall Oven/Single (WOS) models with serial numbers 03_00001A to 03_00155A and 04_00001A to 04_01093A, as well as Wall Oven/Double (WOSD) models with serial numbers 04_00001A to 04_00210A. The blank in the serial numbers can be any letter from A through L.

The hazard exists because the oven's exterior door temperature exceeds allowable limits when the self-cleaning mode is active. Sustained contact with the door during this mode could cause burns. The company has not reported any injuries associated with this defect.

These ovens were sold through appliance dealers nationwide from January 2003 through May 2004 for between $2,179 and $3,920. Consumers should not use the self-cleaning mode until a free replacement door is installed. To arrange for the free replacement, consumers should call Dynamic Cooking Systems toll-free at (877) 446-1501 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PT), Monday through Friday.
