The model number is located on a white label attached to the top of the lawn mower, and the date code 5/02 or 6/02 can be found on the discharge chute.

The recall is due to a defect in the side discharge chute. The material used to manufacture the chute is not strong enough to prevent projectiles from flying out from under the mower deck. This exposes consumers and by-standers to possible injuries from flying debris. No injuries have been reported.

Authorized Snapper dealers sold these mowers nationwide from May 2002 through June 2002 for between $1,099 and $2,699. Consumers should stop using their lawn mowers until the discharge chute has been replaced. They should contact a Snapper dealer immediately for a free replacement.
