Pottery Barn Kids Recalls Wooden Clacker and Ride-On Duck Toys

Pottery Barn Kids, of San Francisco, Calif., is recalling approximately 3,800 Star Clacker wooden toys and 3,000 Ride-On Duck wooden riding toys. The recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on August 7, 2002.

The Star Clacker toys pose a choking hazard because a wooden peg can come off. Additionally, these toys do not comply with the Federal Hazardous Substance Act regarding the design and construction of baby rattles due to the handle length. The Ride-On Duck toys present a choking hazard because the wheel cap can break, allowing the wheel to come off and release small parts. Pottery Barn Kids has received one report of a wheel coming off the Ride-On Duck, but no injuries have been reported for either product.

The Star Clacker toys were sold at Pottery Barn Kids stores nationwide from April 2002 through July 2002 for about $6. The Ride-On Duck toys were sold at Pottery Barn Kids stores, catalogs, and the company's Internet site from September 2001 through June 2002 for about $49. Both products were made in China.

Consumers should take the recalled toys away from young children immediately. They should return the toys to the store where they were purchased for a refund or replacement toy.
