What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has been reported (dental and mouth injuries), but no fatalities or severe injuries are documented, fitting the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

Easy Gardener Inc. is recalling approximately 345,000 Ross Root Feeders, model 1200C, because the mixing chamber caps can detach during use and strike nearby consumers. The recalled feeders are about 30 inches tall with green hose connections and plastic yellow handles. The recall specifically includes units with "24207" or "24208" imprinted on the top of the clear, plastic chamber caps; units with "24208-A" caps are not part of the recall.

Easy Gardener has received one report of a woman who sustained dental and other mouth injuries after being struck by a cap from one of these devices. The feeders were sold at home and garden centers and hardware stores from October 1994 through January 2002 for about $33.

Consumers should stop using the recalled feeders immediately and dispose of the mixing chamber cap. They should contact Easy Gardener at (800) 621-4769 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday to receive a free replacement cap.
