The recalled toys are about 2 to 3 inches long and come in fish and lizard styles. When squeezed, the balloon tongue inflates or rolls out. The toys were manufactured in China and sold for about $1 each between August 1998 and March 2001. Distribution channels included toy stores, doctor and dentist offices, and carnivals and circuses.

The company reported one incident involving a 3-year-old boy who inhaled a detached balloon tongue into his sinus cavity, requiring medical treatment for removal. Consumers should immediately remove these toys from the reach of young children and return them to the place of purchase for a refund or dispose of them.
