Plain-English summary
Burger King Corp. and Alcone Marketing Group are recalling approximately 400,000 "Rattling, Paddling Riverboat" toddler toys. The toys are red plastic boats, about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, that were distributed in Burger King Kid's Meals nationwide in January and February 2001. The packaging identifies them as "Toddler Toys For Kids Under Three Years Old." The bottom of the boat is imprinted with "Sassy, MFG FOR BURGER KING CORP, MADE IN CHINA."
The recall is being issued because metal pins with plastic caps that attach the paddle wheel to the riverboat can come out, posing a choking hazard. Burger King has received 10 reports that the pin on the toy came out. In one instance, a child was found with the pin in her mouth; her father removed it, and no injuries have been reported.
Parents should immediately take the toy away from children. To obtain a free replacement toy, consumers should call Burger King Consumer Affairs at (305) 378-3535 or visit www.burgerking.com for instructions on returning the toy.
