Plain-English summary
L.L. Bean Inc. is recalling approximately 2,000 Children's Snuggle-Up slippers. The slippers are made of red, blue, or aqua fleece fabric with a suede sole and feature a drawcord around the ankle with a barrel toggle used to tighten the fit. The product was sold in sizes XXS (3.5 to 5.5) and XS (6 to 8).
The recall is due to a choking hazard. The drawcord around the ankle can break, releasing the toggle. L.L. Bean has received one report of a 12-month-old baby pulling the toggle off a slipper, though no injuries were reported.
The slippers were sold nationwide from August 2000 through October 2000 for about $18. They were available at the L.L. Kids Store in Freeport, Maine, the L.L. Bean Store in McLean, Virginia, and through L.L. Bean catalogs and its website. Consumers should take these slippers away from young children immediately and return them to L.L. Bean for an exchange or refund.
