The recall was initiated because the products contain wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. The issue arose from a labeling error where the correct top label was applied, but an incorrect bottom label was used. This incorrect bottom label contained the ingredient statement for a different product (Broccoli Slaw and Kale Salad with White Chicken Meat) that does not contain wheat. The problem was discovered when the producing establishment notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the incorrect ingredient statement.

The affected items were shipped to Trader Joe’s locations in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
