2025-2026 RAM Pickup Trucks: Blank Instrument Panel Display Software Error

Chrysler is recalling 2025-2026 RAM pickup trucks (1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, 5500) because a software error causes the instrument panel display to go blank, preventing drivers from seeing critical warning lights and gear selection.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: No reported injuries or deaths. However, the blank instrument panel creates a direct risk of crash by preventing drivers from seeing critical safety information including brake warnings and gear selection. This risk-of-harm without reported injury meets the rubric criterion for High severity.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler is recalling certain 2025-2026 RAM 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 pickup trucks and cab chassis vehicles. A software error in the instrument panel cluster may cause the display to go blank without warning.

The blank display prevents drivers from seeing critical safety information, including warning lights and gear selection. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 135 (Light Vehicle Brake Systems), 105 (Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems), and 102 (Transmission shift lever sequence and starter interlock). According to NHTSA, a display that does not show warning lights or gear selection increases the risk of a crash.
