2025 Honda Accord Hybrid: Loss of Drive Power Software Error

Honda is recalling certain 2025, 2024, and 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles due to a software error in the integrated control module that may cause loss of drive power while driving, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Software defect in vehicle propulsion system creates a real risk of crash and injury, but no reported injuries, deaths, or crashes. Applying the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products without reported injury yields High severity.

Plain-English summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2025, 2024, and 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles due to a software error in the integrated control module (ICM) central processing unit (CPU). This error may cause the ICM CPU to reset while the vehicle is being driven, resulting in a loss of drive power.

A loss of drive power while driving significantly increases the risk of a vehicle crash or injury to occupants. The defect affects the hybrid propulsion system's power control unit/module and software.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138 to schedule a software reprogramming appointment with an authorized Honda dealer. The remedy will be performed free of charge. Honda began mailing owner notification letters on January 6, 2026. Vehicle identification numbers (VINs) involved in this recall are searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 18, 2025.
