Altec certification labels may list an incorrect axle weight rating

Altec is recalling certain 2022-2025 Aerial Device, Forestry Body, Service Body and Digger Derrick vehicles because the Gross Axle Weight Rating on the certification label may be incorrect.

What this means for you

Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 2 covers minor labelling errors: no part of the vehicle is defective and the fault is an incorrect figure on the certification label, remedied by replacing the label.

Plain-English summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is recalling certain 2023-2025 Aerial Device, 2022-2024 Forestry Body, 2022-2025 Service Body and 2025 Digger Derrick vehicles. About 135 units are potentially affected.

The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the vehicle certification label may be incorrect, leading to the vehicle being unintentionally overloaded.

NHTSA states that an overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.

Altec will inspect and replace the labels as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 7, 2025. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
