Altec Commercial Vehicles Recalled for Incorrect Axle Weight Labels

Altec is recalling certain 2022-2025 commercial vehicles because the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the certification label may be incorrect, potentially leading to vehicle overloading and increased crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a labeling error that creates a risk of unintentional vehicle overloading and increased crash risk, with no injuries or deaths reported. This fits the High severity criterion of risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.

Plain-English summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is recalling certain 2023-2025 Aerial Devices, 2022-2024 Forestry Bodies, 2022-2025 Service Bodies, and 2025 Digger Derricks. The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the vehicle certification label may be incorrect on approximately 135 affected vehicles.

An incorrect GAWR on the label can cause owners to unintentionally overload their vehicles. Overloaded vehicles have an increased risk of crashing.

Owners of affected vehicles received notification letters starting November 7, 2025. Altec will replace the labels free of charge. Owners should contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 to arrange service, referencing recall number CSN-3251.
