RAM ProMaster vehicles recalled for missing side door beam and incorrect seating label
Certain 2021-2024 RAM ProMaster vehicles lack a side door beam and have incorrect seating capacity information on the tire placard. These defects may reduce occupant protection in side-impact crashes and could result in improper vehicle loading.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect affecting side-impact crash protection. However, no injuries or deaths have been reported, so the hazard remains theoretical rather than realized, capping the score at High per the severity rubric.
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2024 RAM ProMaster vehicles due to two defects: a missing side door beam and incorrect seating capacity information on the tire placard. These vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 214 (Side Impact Protection) and 110 (Tire Selection and Rims).
The missing side door beam may not provide adequate occupant protection in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The incorrect seating capacity information on the tire placard can result in an improperly loaded vehicle, which can also increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Approximately 266 vehicles are affected by this recall. Dealers will install the missing door beam and apply a corrective overlay label to the tire placard at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 1, 2024. Owners can contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403, or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
