Diamond Coach Corporation is recalling certain 2023-2024 VIP 2200 transit buses equipped with specific GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats. The recall addresses a defect where the recliner mechanism may fail to engage when the seat back is fully reclined. This issue causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

The defect creates a safety hazard because the seat back could release when force is applied to the shoulder belt. This failure increases the risk of injury to occupants during a crash.

Diamond Coach will work with the equipment manufacturer, Freedman, to inspect and repair the seats as necessary at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 13, 2024.
