Honda is recalling 2020–2024 Ridgeline vehicles because the rearview camera wire harness may fatigue and break, preventing the camera image from displaying and reducing rear visibility.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The rearview camera wire harness failure is a known functional defect affecting vehicle safety that prevents camera display and reduces rear visibility, increasing crash risk. No injuries or deaths have been reported, placing this in the high-risk category of potential harm.
Plain-English summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020–2024 Honda Ridgeline vehicles. The rearview camera (RVC) tailgate wire harness may fatigue and break, which prevents the rearview camera image from displaying on the vehicle's display.
When the rearview camera image does not display, the driver's rear view is reduced. This increases the risk of a crash when backing up, as the driver may be unable to see obstacles, pedestrians, or other vehicles behind the vehicle.
Approximately 187,290 vehicles are affected by this recall. Dealers will replace the RVC tailgate wire harness at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) for more information.
