The defect involves a wiring harness connector for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) blower motor located under the passenger side of the instrument panel. This connector may be accessible to kicking by the front seat passenger's feet. If kicked, the connector terminal may overheat, causing the wire insulation or the wiring connector to melt. If the melted insulation exposes wires that make contact with each other, a short circuit may occur, which may cause a fire.

Dealers will inspect the vehicles and, if the wiring connector is damaged, replace it. All vehicles will have a protective cover installed free of charge. The safety recall began on March 15, 2010. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
