Tiffin Allegro Bay motorhomes recalled for battery fire risk

Tiffin is recalling certain 2022–2024 Allegro Bay motorhomes because batteries may shift during travel, causing electrical arcing and fire risk. Dealers will install new hold-down hardware at no charge.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Fire risk from electrical arcing is identified, but no fires or injuries have been reported. Per the rubric, risk-of-harm products without reported incidents score 3 (High).

Plain-English summary

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. is recalling certain 2022, 2023, and 2024 Allegro Bay motorhomes due to a defect in the battery hold-down system. The standard house batteries may shift position during travel, causing the battery terminals to contact the steel hold-down bar.

When battery terminals contact the steel hold-down bar, electrical arcing can occur, which increases the risk of fire.

Dealers will install a new battery hold-down bar and angle brackets free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 29, 2024. Owners should contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661 to schedule the repair. Approximately 300 motorhomes may be affected.
