Plain-English summary

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2023 740i, 760i xDrive, and i7 xDrive60 vehicles equipped with an Interaction Bar. The Interaction Bar, located on the dashboard, may not activate the windshield defrosting/defogging system and/or the hazard warning lights. Additionally, the control buttons may not illuminate when pressed. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems," and number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The inability to operate the defrost or hazard warning lights can increase the risk of a crash or injury. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 6, 2023.

Dealers will replace the Interaction Bar free of charge. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
