Altec aerial device trucks: forward collision braking system software miscalibration

Altec is recalling 2020-2023 aerial device trucks due to collision mitigation system software that may not be calibrated correctly, preventing the active braking system from activating. This increases the risk of a crash.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a critical safety system failure (forward collision avoidance/automatic emergency braking). No injuries or crashes have been reported as of the recall date, making the hazard currently theoretical. Per the rubric, risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported score as High (3).
