It meets the criterion for High severity as a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Airstream, Inc. is recalling certain 2023 Atlas motorhomes for an electrical system defect. The 16-gauge branch wires in these vehicles may be under-protected by a 20-amp fuse.
In the event of a short circuit, the undersized fuse may not properly interrupt current, allowing the wiring to overheat. Overheating wiring increases the risk of fire.
The recall affects 41 units. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 29, 2023. Owners should contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411 to schedule the remedy.
Dealers will replace the 20-amp fuse with a 5-amp fuse and install a new circuit, free of charge. For additional information, owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
