Airstream travel trailers recalled for cooktop gas leak fire risk

Airstream is recalling 2021-2023 travel trailers with SDS2 cooktops. Burner tubes may fracture and cause gas leaks, increasing fire risk. Dealers will install a support bracket at no charge.

Plain-English summary

Airstream, Inc. is recalling certain 2021-2023 Basecamp, Bambi, Atlas, and Interstate travel trailers that are equipped with SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture.

When a burner tube fractures, it can cause a gas leak. If this occurs in the presence of an ignition source, it increases the risk of a fire.

Dealers will install a regulator support bracket at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed starting April 29, 2023. Owners can contact Airstream Customer Service at 877-596-6111 (Travel Trailer ext. 7491, Touring Coach ext. 7401) to schedule service, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
