What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Plain-English summary

Prevost Car (US) Inc. is recalling certain 2018-2023 H3-45 motor coaches, 2018-2023 H3-45 VIP motorhomes, and 2019 H3-41 motor coaches. The recall involves 555 vehicles where the Automatic Fire Suppression System (AFSS) optical fire sensor in the engine compartment may corrode and malfunction.

If the sensor malfunctions, the system may issue false warnings, command an unwarranted engine shutdown, and release a chemical fire extinguishing agent. This can cause a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a disabled coach may require evacuation in uncontrolled traffic, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

Prevost will inspect the vehicles, install spacers between the optical fire sensor and bracket, and replace the sensor if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 8, 2023. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
