RAM 2500 and 3500 transmission fluid leak increases fire risk

Chrysler is recalling certain 2020-2023 RAM 2500 and 2020-2022 RAM 3500 vehicles due to a defect in the transmission system. Pressure and heat can build up inside the transmission, potentially causing transmission fluid to leak from the dipstick tube.

If transmission fluid leaks into the engine compartment, it may contact an ignition source, increasing the risk of a fire. This could pose a serious safety hazard to vehicle occupants and nearby property.

Owners should contact their local RAM/Chrysler dealer to have the transmission dipstick and transmission vent assembly replaced at no cost to the owner. Notification letters were mailed on December 29, 2022. Owners can also contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
