Ford Recalls 2019-2020 Vehicles for Transmission Fire Risk
Ford is recalling 2019-2020 Edge, Transit Connect, Escape, and Lincoln models because loose bolts on the start/stop accumulator may cause a transmission fluid leak and potential fire.

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2019-2020 Ford Edge, Transit Connect, and Lincoln MKX vehicles, as well as 2020 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where the start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing or loose bolts.
This defect could result in a transmission fluid leak, which may progress to a loss of transmission function. Additionally, a transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the start/stop accumulator free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
