What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: NHTSA recall for structural electrical defect in front fender harnesses. Loose harnesses can cause short circuits leading to engine stall while driving, creating direct crash risk. This qualifies as a structural vehicle defect per the severity rubric, despite no reported injuries to date.
Plain-English summary
Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling certain 2019-2023 CAN-AM Ryker motorcycles. The affected units have position light and flasher electrical harnesses located in the front fenders that may loosen over time.
When these harnesses loosen, they can rub against the tire, causing a short circuit. This short circuit can result in an engine stall while the motorcycle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.
No injuries or property damage have been reported to date in connection with this defect. The recall affects approximately 46,119 vehicles.
To address this issue, BRP dealers will secure the two harnesses at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 9, 2022. Owners should contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222 to schedule the repair. For additional information, owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
