2023 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks recalled for engine control failure

The recall affects approximately 1,601 vehicles across the following models: Kenworth T680, K270, T440, T880, W990, K370, T280, T380, T480, T800, and W900; Peterbilt 220, 389, 520, 536, 537, 348, 367, 567, 548, and 579.
The engine control module may experience an internal electrical short-circuit, which can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while the vehicle is operating. An unexpected engine stall significantly increases the risk of a crash.
PACCAR will replace the defective ECM units free of charge. Owners should contact their dealer or call Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220 to arrange the repair. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
