Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022 F-150 vehicles due to a defect in the power-adjustable telescoping steering column. The connector wiring on these vehicles may be too short. If the adjustable steering column is extended all the way, the short wiring can become damaged or separate.
Damaged or separated wiring may result in the steering column not moving as intended in certain crash conditions. This malfunction increases the risk of injury to occupants during a crash.
Dealers will inspect the steering column wiring harness and repair the wiring, as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on May 9, 2022, and final owner notification letters were mailed on July 28, 2022. Remedy parts were expected to be available by the end of July 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
