Blue Bird Body Company is recalling certain 2023 Vision school buses. The recall addresses a defect in the vehicle multiplex software that may prevent the brakes from engaging when the wheelchair platform lift is operated. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, "Platform Lift Systems."
The defect creates a safety hazard because disengaged brakes can allow the school bus to move while the platform lift is in operation, which increases the risk of injury to passengers or bystanders.
