Nissan is recalling 2014-2016 Rogue vehicles because water intrusion may corrode an electrical connector, increasing the risk of fire.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves an electrical defect that explicitly increases the risk of a fire, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'significant injury/property-damage reports' or high-risk vehicle defects.

Plain-English summary

Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles. The recall addresses a defect in the electrical connector for the under-dash harness, which may corrode due to water and salt intrusion from the driver's side foot well.

This corrosion can result in power window or seat failure, illumination of the all-wheel-drive warning light, battery drainage, and damage to the electrical connector that increases the risk of a fire. The recall covers approximately 664,779 vehicles.

Dealers will remove the harness tape and covering, replace both connectors, and apply white lithium grease to the connectors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 23, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
