The defect involves the seat belt assembly force-limiter, which may not operate correctly. This can allow the seat belt to extend further than intended after locking. A seat belt assembly that extends further than intended may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will inspect the front seat belt assembly and replace the assembly, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 9, 2024.
