Plain-English summary
Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2020-2021 Essex motorhomes and 2020-2022 King Aire and London Aire motorhomes. A machining defect in the power steering pump may cause pressure to build inside the pump and break the shaft seal. This can result in a loss of power steering assist, which increases the risk of a crash.
Owners should contact Newmar's customer service at 1-800-731-8300 to schedule an inspection. Shyft Group will inspect the pump and replace it free of charge if necessary. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2021.
For additional information, owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
