Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling certain 2020-2022 Land Rover vehicles, including the 2021 Defender, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Discovery Sport, and Discovery models. The automatic locking retractors in the seat belt assemblies may deactivate early, compromising their ability to function properly.
When these retractors deactivate prematurely, child restraint systems cannot secure properly in the vehicle. This can increase the risk of injury to children during a crash.
Approximately 32,687 vehicles are affected by this defect. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 20, 2021. Owners should contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 to schedule a free inspection and replacement of seat belt assemblies. The recall number is N630.
