2020-2021 Forest River XLR Toy Hauler Weight Label Defect Recall
Forest River is recalling certain 2020-2021 XLR Boost Toy Hauler recreational vehicles with inaccurate Federal Placards that may understate the vehicle's weight, risking tire damage and crashes from overloading.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 120 non-compliance affecting wheels and weight capacity), which meets the Score 4 criterion for Severe recalls, even though no injuries have been reported.
Plain-English summary
Forest River, Inc. is recalling approximately 200 of its 2020-2021 XLR Boost Toy Hauler recreational vehicles. The Federal Placard and Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) label on these vehicles may display a weight lower than the actual weight of the vehicle.
Because of this inaccuracy, owners may overload their vehicles without realizing it. An overloaded recreational vehicle can suffer tire damage and increase the risk of a crash. The vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 120 (Wheels and Rims).
