Triumph Rocket 3 Motorcycles Recalled for Air in Antilock Brake System
Triumph is recalling certain 2020-2021 Rocket 3 motorcycles because air may have entered the rear brake ABS modulator during production. This can reduce braking efficiency over time, increasing stopping distance and crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The defect is a confirmed manufacturing issue in a critical safety system (rear brake ABS modulator) that could reduce braking efficiency and increase crash risk. However, no injuries or deaths have been reported, and this is a precautionary recall being addressed with a straightforward remedy.
Plain-English summary
Triumph Motorcycles America is recalling certain 2020 and 2021 Rocket 3 GT, Rocket 3 R, and Rocket 3 TFC motorcycles. Air may have entered the antilock brake system (ABS) modulator in the rear brake system during production.
Over time, air trapped in the ABS modulator can deteriorate rear braking efficiency. This increases the distance required to stop and raises the risk of a crash.
Triumph dealers will bleed the rear brake system free of charge to correct the issue. Owners should contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010 to schedule service. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline is also available at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or consumers can visit safercar.gov.
