Plain-English summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. is recalling certain 2019 A 220 vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where the air conditioning condensation drain hose may not be installed properly. This installation error may allow water to enter the driver and passenger foot wells and the center tunnel area, potentially damaging certain electrical components.
Water entering these electrical components can result in malfunctions of the supplemental restraint system (SRS), failure to start, activation of the limp-home mode while driving, and impairment of other features. These issues increase the risk of injury or crash. The recall began on August 31, 2020.
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the air conditioning drain hose installation and correct it if necessary, free of charge.
