Ford Recalls 2014-2017 Transit Connect Vehicles for Roof Separation Risk
Ford is recalling 2014-2017 Transit Connect vehicles with panoramic roofs due to a bonding defect that could cause the roof to separate while driving.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (roof separation) that explicitly states it may increase the risk of injury or crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2014-2017 Transit Connect vehicles equipped with a Panoramic Fixed-Glass Vista roof. The recall addresses an improper bond between the panoramic roof and the vehicle body, which may result in wind noise, water leaks, and in some cases, separation of the roof from the vehicle.
If the panoramic roof panel separates from the vehicle while it is being driven, it may increase the risk of an injury or crash. Ford issued an interim notification to owners on May 26, 2020.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will remove, clean, and reinstall the panoramic roof panel free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
