The helmets may not adequately reduce the amount of force the wearer experiences during an impact. As a result, these helmets fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 218, "Motorcycle Helmets." In the event of a crash, the helmet may not protect the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.
