Plain-English summary
Thor Motor Coach is recalling 378 specific 2019-2020 Chateau, Daybreak, Four Winds, Freedom Elite, and Quantum motorhomes. The recall addresses a defect in the instrument cluster where the seatbelt-unfastened warning light fails to illuminate for approximately five seconds after the ignition is moved to the "on" or "start" position. This issue causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
The primary hazard associated with this defect is that without the seatbelt warning reminder, drivers may forget to fasten their seatbelts, which increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash. The affected vehicles include the 2019-2020 Chateau 22B, 22E, 23U, 24F, 25V, and 28A; 2019-2020 Daybreak 22GO; 2019-2020 Four Winds 22B, 22E, 24F, 26B, and 28A; 2019-2020 Freedom Elite 22HE; and 2020 Quantum GR22 and SE22.
General Motors will notify Thor Motor Coach owners, and dealers will reprogram the instrument panel cluster free of charge. The recall began on October 3, 2019.
