Thor Motor Coach Motorhomes Electrical Fire Risk Battery Isolation Recall

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2020-2021 motorhomes. A faulty Battery Isolation Manager/Relay allows water into the engine compartment, creating electrical arcing and fire risk. Owners should contact TMC at 1-877-855-2867.

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2020-2021 Daybreak, Four Winds, Chateau, Freedom Elite, and Quantum motorhomes built on a Chevrolet chassis. The affected component is the Battery Isolation Manager (BIM) / Battery Isolation Relay (BIR).

The BIM/BIR is not watertight when exposed to engine compartment heat. Water can get into the component and create electrical arcing, increasing the risk of a fire.

Approximately 1,074 units are affected. Owners will be notified. Dealers will replace the BIM/BIR with a Trombetta solenoid free of charge. The recall began January 13, 2021.
