Aisin Transmission Control Module Recall for Mazda and Fiat Vehicles

Aisin World Corp. of America (Aisin AW) is recalling certain Transmission Control Modules (TCM) sold for use in 2016-2019 Mazda Miata MX-5 and 2017-2019 Fiat 124 vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. The affected part numbers are PSPD189E1, PEFB189E1B, PAC6189E1A, PEFB189E1A, PEFB189E1C, 50052911, PEFB189E1D, 50053305, and 50054938.
Due to incorrect programming of the Transmission Control Module, certain conditions may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly downshift and abruptly decelerate. If a vehicle downshifts unexpectedly, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash.
